All About The Memories

I was one of the thousands of people who watched the unveiling of the iPad. I thought it is a cool new gadget, different from the usual laptops and has a lot of useful features. I especially love the ibooks app, ohhh the virtual bookshelf looks really nice. I just wish the ebooks we’re cheaper though, I can’t even buy the Twilight series because the price starts from $9.99 to $19.99 for each ebook (yeah I love Twilight but no I won’t spend that kind of money on ebooks thank you very much). Anyway back to iPad, I think the price is reasonable and I would buy one if I have the budget (which unfortunately I don’t, lol) when it becomes available to the public.

I got my first Nancy Drew book from my dad when I was six, and that’s when my love for reading started. I remember being at the library during recess when I was in third grade, I loved dinosaurs back then (lol). Now that I’m a mom I try to encourage my daughter to love books as well, we visit the library a few times a week and I let her browse as much books as she likes. I buy her storybooks too, she’s always happy to go to the bookstore whenever we’re at the mall. At home she would sit by herself with a book or two and just quietly browse the pages. She’s such a sweet girl, I hope she’ll learn to love books like I did.

It’s my birthday next month and though I’m not as excited as I was when I was in my teens I would still like to celebrate with my family. I don’t know if my husband is still thinking about ideal gifts for her since we already got me an iphone so I’m not expecting anything (but still hoping to get something, lol). He’s been known to surprise me when he give gifts when I’m not expecting anything, it’s not the gift that I appreciate more though it’s the thought he put into it. He could give me a nice birthday/anniversary card and I would just love all the same, being married for a couple of years now it’s still nice to be surprised and giggle like the seventeen year old I was when we first met.

Hubby got off from this training early so we went to Courts hoping to find a cheap dock entertainment system for my phone. Their restaurant was closed but there was a Subway branch on the electronics section so we decided to just have dinner there. Let me just say that my new favorite is tuna in wheat bread with all the veggies and sweet onion dressing. It’s a cheap option but oh so yummy, I love it and I’m definitely going back to Subway next week. Since Chinese New Year is just around the corner there’s a lot of sales going on and I take this opportunity to do some shopping. I got us new sets of bedsheets (one for ours and one for Iyah’s bed) and we finally found a cheap dock system, yay!

I’ve been so busy lately that I don’t have the energy to update this blog as often as I want to. My little girl started going to preschool this year and she’s doing so well and this is why I have been MIA here. I don’t even feel like comparing term life insurance quotes online and this is something I should have done last week. I’m not complaining because I’ve been spending time with my daughter talking about all the things she’s doing at school, reading to her and practicing strokes on her workbooks and I enjoy doing these things with her, I just wished that there’s more hours in a day. I can’t keep up with all the things I want to do because I’m focused on her, it’s not a bad thing but I would like to do other things too like say scrap more (which I haven’t been doing regularly as well). I need to manage my time better I guess, we’ll see how that goes.

I see a lot of advertisements on TV and on the newspaper about slimming spa promising to give you a great figure with their treatments, I even get flyers at the mall. Quite frankly I don’t know if I’ll believe any of the weight loss stories of the people on the ads, who knows if it’s real or just edited to make the person have a slim figure. Some of the before and after photos look unreal to me but who knows maybe I’m just skeptic about spending money on these places (not that I would anyway).

Last night me and my sister were glued to the TV watching the Golden Globe Awards after dinner. I was expecting Avatar to win awards seeing it was a huge blockbuster and I wasn’t disappointed. Of course like any awards night, the women of hollywood graced the red carpet wearing their best designer gowns and bling bling. I think Jennifer Aniston, Penelope Cruz and Rose Bryne looked wonderful while Anna Paquin looked horrible. I must say all the stars’ makeup are great, they don’t seem to need any acne lotion with just how flawless their faces looked on TV (I must learn the basics of concealing eye bags). Overall I think the show was great. It was quite dragging of course with the advertisements but we enjoyed watching it.

I can’t remember how I ended up subscribing to SheKnows.com but everyday I get emails from them about various topics and I must say they have a interesting selection. They have different topics each day from 10 Tips to cut carb cravings, celebrity scandals to beauty products like wrinkle cream and a lot more, I end up reading most of the articles myself. I am most interested to topics about marriage, housekeeping and health but I find celebrity gossip worth reading too. A little reading while I’m taking my morning coffee is always nice…

A friend of mine were chatting last night and telling each other what our New Year’s resolutions for this year are. Well I don’t really do resolutions anymore because I fail miserably so I just told her that I plan to save more this year. I’m cutting down on shopping online and try to save as much for something we’re planning to have this year. I don’t need to have a personal budget software because I know where my paypal money goes and if I transfer funds to my bank account as soon as I get paid I won’t be tempted to use it for shopping.

Now that I go out everyday to drop off and pick up the little girl at school I pay more attention to my skin. I’m a little fair so I don’t do much to my skin except slather lotion but now that I get exposed to afternoon sun five times a week I’m thinking on how to protect my skin. I would probably get exposed skin care if it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Don’t get me wrong I’m not worried about my skin color, I’m scared of skin cancer. It’s the perfect timing for her class because she takes her afternoon nap when we get home but I do have to bring umbrella everyday to shield us from harmful UV rays (now I sound like a TV commercial, lol). Hopefully next year when she’s at kindergarten we can get a slot at a school near our place so I won’t worry about sun exposure anymore.
