All About The Memories

This is the first time I participated in the Weekly Roundups, yay me! I’ve been meaning to do it for weeks but I wasn’t able to, well now I finally did. It was raining on and off for the most part of the week. Really gloomy for people like us who wanted to go to the playground. The weather improved towards the weekend. Friday I was able to jog for the first time after I got married. I will do this more often with my sister now, I have to go shopping for clothes though. Our target is three times a week. It was still dark when we went for our jog (sun doesn’t rise here til around 7:00am) but there were lots of people going to work and to school. Friday afternoon I also met Janet Phillips and her family. This will be another post in my scrap blog though I also did something spontaneous, I checked us in a hotel in the city for the night. Hehehe I totally surprised my hubby but when he got home we were already packed. I really didn’t plan this at all, I booked the hotel that afternoon and packed our things. It was great though, we were able to you know “bond” and have fun. The little girl enjoyed herself as well. My sister also joined us later that night because she didn’t want to be alone in the house (good thing I got the bigger room). Read the rest of this entry »

Okay so I’m not working but I really look forward to weekends. Why? Well the hubby is here and he can help around the house (lol). No seriously it is nice to have everyone home, for one the little girl is thrilled to spend time with daddy. We usually go out too and the little girl is even more excited when we do. I’m not sure if can tomorrow though, it’s been raining on and off for the past couple of days (it’s raining right now) and I don’t want to take the little girl out if the weather is this gloomy. We don’t have to worry about our air conditioning compressor though because when it’s this cold due to rains we just shut it off. I’m really hoping for a good weather tomorrow so we could to Sentosa and I can practice taking pictures.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY?

* Having a little “ME” time early in the morning before everyone else wakes up. It is quiet and it’s just me, a cup of coffee and my laptop
* Hearing the little girl laugh, getting lots of hugs and kisses from her.
* Family time.
* Online shopping. Makes life so much easier.
* Digital Scrapbooking.
* Chatting with friends from all over the world.
* Taking pictures (especially with the new camera).
* Good food.
* Clean House.
* Travel and vacations! Disney World Tickets especially.

That’s all I can think of right now.

WHAT MAKES ME SAD?

* When the husband drives me crazy (hehehe this doesn’t happen often though)
* Not liking what I see when I look in the mirror (need to do something about it).
* Friends back home telling me how hard life is there.
* The little girl not eating a lot.
* Disrupted internet connection.
* Rejections in general.

When we got the new camera and I saw the bag that came with it I knew I needed to buy a new one. It was so huge and boxy that I will not carry the camera if it’s in that bag. So off the net I go looking for camera bags that are nice enough to carry anywhere but at the same time will keep the camera safe. And I found two, yes two and I got them both.

For the hubby I got him the Crumpler 5Million Dollar Home bag. It is a bit smaller than what I thought it would be but really nice. I like the padding inside, and it looks really sturdy. We got exactly what is pictured above. The hubby however thinks this is not the bag for him (well he doesn’t have a choice now does he?).

Now for me I got a girly bag of course. I read about the Crumpler at the forums I visit and I’ve read a lot of rave comments on the Tracy Joy bag too. So I emailed Tracy Joy about shipping rates and insurance options as well for the bag and she was really nice. I even got the discounted price eventhough it was a day after she had her sale. I went a little crazy here and bought a bunch of accessories too.

I got the Kristine TJ Bag in brown with the Carnival Bloom fabric flap. I also opted for extra padding. Then I ordered an extra Maddie flap in Patti Paisley Green (you can change the flap of the Kristine bag for a new look). I also got matching Lisa shoulder straps for the bag. My husband said that the designs I chose were all floral patterns, he takes it as a hint to call the flower delivery services again you know to give me flowers.

Lastly I a matching Carnival Bloom camera neckstrap from my favorite online store at the moment, Etsy (lol). I plan to order a Patti Paisley Kiwi neckstrap too but not right now, I think I did enough shopping for the camera.

Here’s our new camera. Yes I jumped to the DSLR bandwagon. I’ve been avoiding it for years and kept telling myself that I don’t need it and we’re fine with our point and shoot (I’m keeping one of our p&s cameras though) but I finally gave in. And I’m so glad I did.

It has only has the standard kit lens at the moment but we’re keen on buying two more lenses, not at the same time though because they’re a bit pricey. Now of course I need to accessorize this baby. The free bag that came with the camera is not something I will take with me when I go out so I got ourselves new camera bags (that deserves another post).

Here’s another shot of the camera with the Crumpler 5million dollar home bag I got for my husband to use. It is a bit small but we don’t have any extra lens at the moment so this will do for now. The camera uses a compact flash memory card and not a micro sd. Now to actually learn how to use it, there’s so many buttons I know nothing about. I guess I better start reading that manual.

of things to do…

1. Finish an important project this before Friday. I’m making progress but this is the most tedious project I got so it takes time.

2. Work on another project, the deadline is the first week of September but I have to rock this project (because I’m already paid half the payout…lol).

3. I’m expecting two more projects before this weekend. I haven’t even started checking out miami heat tickets online. My cousin wants me to find him a great deal and I don’t have the time to do that yet.

4. Other extra tasks here in my blogs.

All these and taking care of the little girl too. I’m happy of course that I’m busy (busy means kaching for me) and I know I can do it all but thinking about it all is a little overwhelming. I have to remind myself that I can do it and everything will be fine. I just have to be fast and be able to function with little sleep.

I wanted to practice using our new DSLR camera so I took my sister to the nearby park and took photos of her (okay so I asked her a hundred times before she finally said yes). This was a shot of one of the flowers at the park. I’m LOVING the new camera! I want to practice more.

Please know that this is the first time I did something like this (lol) so I’m really a newbie. I’d like to learn more and be better My husband is going to attend a basic photography class that was given for free when we got the camera. It could have been me but the warranty was registered to him so he get to attend the class (grrr).

My husband that is. Well not really a real car but an RC so I don’t need to look at online auto insurance for him. He packed his gear last night and left early this morning. I think there are four of his friends who will be joining him too.

As for us here at home, we’re just watching the olympics and the little girl is just playing. I’m not sure how the rest of the weekend is going to be. I will get the Crumpler camera bag I got for his later this afternoon, that’s my plan for today. I have so much work to do when it comes to my projects but I do hope we go somewhere we can practice using the camera tomorrow. Maybe Sentosa or the Botanical Gardens, I’m not sure yet and I do hope the weather cooperates too.
