All About The Memories

Searching For Father’s Day Gifts Online

This is a guest post by Alex Mankey

My husband and I were very surprised when we were watching a commercial about father’s day on our satellite internet Jacksonville. We didn’t realize that father’s day was so close. We immediately began thinking about ideas on what we should buy my dad for Father’s day. I told my husband whatever we decided to buy my dad we would have to buy online, because I didn’t have time to go to the mall to shop.

When we first started looking online for gifts we couldn’t find anything that we really wanted to get my dad. My husband suggested that we just get my dad a gift certificate. I told my husband that I didn’t want to get my dad the same old boring gift that every other kid gives their dad. We finally spotted a tie with a big green M&Mon it. We both agreed that my dad would love the tie because he loves M&Ms.

After we ordered the tie, my husband said that he still thought we should get my dad a gift certificate. I agreed to look online for a gift certificate. I got really excited when I found this website that allowed you to print your own gift certificates. On these certificate you could write in chores or favors that you would do for your dad. My husband also liked these.

Lovin’ iBooks

I just updated my software to the new iOS 4 and I love the new features. Half of the features of the yet to be released iPhone 4 is in this update I think and I’m thinking the new iPhone would be great. Anyway I can’t upgrade my phone until 2012 so I’ll be contented with the software update for now. I love that I can choose the home screen background now (out with the boring black background). Oh and the folders, how much it’s less of a hassle o scroll pages of apps now it’s such a neat new function. I didn’t put everything in folders but only the apps I don’t frequently use, still I was able to reduce my pages from eleven to seven. My most favorite new feature/addition would be the ibooks, I love the ibooks! I’m so tempted to buy some books now but I limit myself to downloading samples of the books I like for now. I think it’s nice that I get to read a few chapters of the books I’m interested in and then decide if I want to buy the full version or not. The thing about the ibooks though, the average price of one book range from $9.99 – $12.99, almost the same price if you buy a real copy of the book so I’m a bit hesitant. I’m sure I will end up buying a few books though, I like reading from a real book but it’s also nice to have a few in handy when I can’t carry around a real one in my purse.

A lappy

I haven’t used a laptop for about two years now. Before that I was the one using the our laptop and hubby was using the computer. I would use the laptop for long hours everyday and then one day it died on me. I felt bad because I knew the reason it broke down was from overuse, it was lucky that when it needed repair it was still under warranty and we didn’t pay a single cent even when the lcd and fan needed to be replaced.  After the laptop was fixed hubby and I switched and I’ve been using the computer since then, I miss the laptop once in a while but I’m happy with the pc now.

Fathers Day on Amazon

Guest post written by mommy blogger Sherry McLin

Looking for that perfect Father’s Day gift? Shopping malls crowded? With the access of internet you no longer have to go outside your house to find a Father’s Day gift. As I am surfing the web thanks to wildblue satellite internet, I am heading to shop at Amazon.com. You can find a lot of deals here for a Father’s Day gift. If your father is an avid reader Amazon has new books and used books to buy. You can even get free shipping. If the book is eligible for free shipping the super saver shipping will be next to the book. You can even buy books for a penny at Amazon, although you usually have to pay for shipping. I buy books from Amazon all the time and have never had a problem.

Amazon is also a great place to shop for electronics. Sometimes you can find some really great deals. If you are looking for something specifically for dad keep your eyes open for sales. Amazon will often have sales.

Another place to shop online for dad is eBay.com. This is an online auction site, and I have bought many things from eBay. Once you find an item you are looking for you place a bid. If your bid is accepted you will win. If you are outbid you can bid again. The one downfall I find with eBay is it is basically cat and mouse. You always have to be chasing the other bidders until literally the last second. eBay is an excellent site for finding deals, but you may not get dad his gift in time for Father’s Day. There are a ton of other online shopping sites to use, but my preferences are Amazon and eBay. Whatever site you choose to use, I’m sure dad will be delighted with whatever gift he receives.

What a nice bag

At one glance this bag might jut be any normal hobo bag you’ll find at local department stores. It’s stylish, it’s nice you could even see yourself using it paired with your favorite top. You think it’s a good enough size to fit all your essentials without making your shoulder hurt as you carry it around. But when you look inside you find that it’s not just like any other bag you have….

It’s a camera bag! How cool is this Kelly Moore camera bag on a scale of one to ten? Ten of course. If I am a photographer this is definitely one bag I would consider to carry my gear to a shoot.

Wife Swap on my DVR

Thanks for the guest blog, Jennifer Finn!

I love the show Wife Swap and record it to watch later on my DVR. My DVR records shows from my direct tv Tallahassee so that I can watch them at a later date. I like being able to watch Wife Swap after dinner with my husband. The show has several aspects that we both enjoy.

In several shows the wives that swap are complete opposites. It is fun to watch someone trade families and have to function in a home life that they are not accustomed to. My favorite episodes involve different religious beliefs. It is important to know how other people are able to live with someone who isn’t like them. This, in my opinion, is a good way to teach the audience about

Who’s gonna drive?

We’ll be going back home for vacation next month and one of my concerns is our mode of transportation. We will definitely go out a lot to meet family and friends, go shopping, even go out of town and all that requires hours of driving. We have cars we can use, my husband’s and my parents and both are in good condition and doesn’t require Los Angeles auto repair at all. The problem we are facing is finding a driver to drive us around, you see my husband’s driver’s license expired a few years back and since we don’t have a car here it didn’t occur to us that he needs apply for an international driver’s license until it was too late. It takes about two months to process the license since his old one is expired he needs to take the test and do all the paperwork. We simply don’t have enough time.
Gone is the idea of driving a Ford Explorer to Pangasinan to visit his aunts, we are now scrabbling to find someone who would be wiling to be our driver for our whole vacation. Everyone has a job and with he exception of my dad who would also have things to do on his vacation from work no else is available. I would love to go to Tagaytay and let my little girl see Taal volcano again, the last time she was there she was three months old and I don’t think she even remember that.
The good thing though about my husband not being able to drive is that he can be on the passenger seat just like us and not get so tired. He won’t even have to worry about he head gasket or the other drivers since he won’t be the one behind the wheels. I know how tiring it can be for him to drive for hours at a time. So this time he will truly be on vacation too.

The Help

I just finished reading this book and I really liked it. In fact I kept re-reading the parts I like days after I finished the book. I’m often hesitant to tell people about the books I like because what is great to me might not be another person’s cup of tea but this I totally recommend to my friends who enjoys reading like me. When I was reading this book I kept thinking that at one point in history this was really happening, that there was really a line separating people of different color/race. This is definitely one of my favorite reads this year. Now I think my next book would be The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks (this I borrowed from the library).

I need sleep

I bought a magazine yesterday (Kinokuniya has a lot of nice ones with great freebies too like an Agnes B tote) and there’s a lot of helpful articles about clothes, makeup and information o how to treat acne. I need to get a decent sleep because I have a few blemishes and it doesn’t seem to be going away soon. I know when I don’t get enough sleep my skin takes the toll and it’s about time I get some beauty sleep and not forget to drink lots of water.

A little shopping

I’ve been buying a few things here and there lately since we’ll be going back home for vacation next month. Nothing fancy just a few items for my mom and my sister and other relatives as well as for friends. Of course I like to shop (if only budget isn’t an issue that is) and I’ve seen enough receipt printer this weekend at the mall. I have a few things on my list that I need to buy next month and then we probably need a new luggage, it’s insanely hard to pack light for three people and when one is a toddler it’s even harder.
