I got some nice photos of the little girl today, I wonder if it’s too early to think about holiday photo cards this month. One can never be too early I guess, better early to avoid peak season rate as well as delay in shipping. I’ve been seeing Christmas kits here and there too so I can design cards if I want to start now. In the past years I’ve been too late so I ended up having no cards to send to loved ones so this year it might to me good to start early.

The little girl’s birthday party is only a few days away, I’m really excited but I have a lot of things to do before the big day. For starters I have to assemble the guesbook, it’s all printed and cut to fit the accordion album and thanks to my Making Memories instant setter I was able to punch holes easily. I love my printer, it prints layouts nicely and so far I haven’t noticed any fading. I also have to find our what is the going life insurance rate these days for my mom who I should give a call later this week. Anyway I found a few sites online and I got a ballpark idea on the going rate so that’s what I’m going to tell her. My dad would probably call me this week too, I feel bad that the little girl is not in the mood to talk when he called a few days ago. It’s funny because when she plays and pretends she is talking to her daddyloo but when he calls she doesn’t want to say a word. Ahhh kids….
My mom needs some of advice on car mats, as if I’m the person to talk to about things like this when I don’t even know how to drive a car let alone know what is good for it. I told her she should ask the hubby who is far more knowledgeable than me. They are slowly replacing items that were damaged by flood water and I think she only has a few more items on her list. It’s good that the engine wasn’t damaged because the water didn’t reached that high but the floor was soaked with it and they needed to clean the muddy water thoroughly. At least they’re almost done…
I wan to buy a new set of cushion covers for our sofa. I want something that would go nicely together but not exactly of the same prints. As usual I browsed at Etsy and I found a few that I really like…
Aren’t these nice? They are by MARIESCOSYCUSHIONS at Etsy, she has lots of cushion covers and canvass fabric wall art. If the shipping doesn’t cost an arm and a leg I will buy her wall art. I like canvass prints better than frames ones to hang on the wall. It’s much easier to put on the wall (much to my husband’s happiness because he’s the one in charge of hanging them) and it looks nice up there too. This is why we have a few of them here at home.
I’m going to need a new journal since in a few months we’ll be welcoming a new year. I browsed Etsy after I finished reading an article about Asbestos legislation and I saw this beautiful handmade journal by BooksByStephen. I love the scrabble tiles in front of the journal, if only the inside pages are lined it would be perfect for me. Still I want to get this for my scrapbooking ideas and notes, something to jot down quotes for my pages and also to put memorabilias and other ephemera I can use.
While watching my favorite TV shows I can’t help but think about all the commercials on TV these days. All these products and all claiming to be the best and luring us consumers to spend money on them. I can’t tell what is the best acne treatment out there but switch your TV on and you’ll find two or more products claiming to be number one. Of course we more often than not we fall there these commercials and try these products, some work and some doesn’t but still it influences our decisions when it comes to purchasing items.
It’s great that there’s so many online shopping stores these days. I can even find local online shopping stores easily. I ordered the balloons for the little girl’s birthday party from an online store. I found Hello Kitty balloons at Toys R Us but the I didn’t like the colors they have so I searched online and found a seller that sells pink (light and darker shade) and purple Hello Kitty balloons. It was nice that she is a local seller so I made payment and got my package after a few days. Come to think of it running an online store won’t require the owner to purchase a barcode scanner. It does need a lot of behind the scenes work but still I would think it’s a little easier to run than a regular shop at the mall. I enjoy shopping online too since I don’t have to leave the house to pick items I want.
One week before Iyah turns three here’s how I’m doing with the preps:
Birthday decorations – bought. We have balloons, bunting, happy birthday banner, table cloth and pink boa.
Caterer – booked. The person I talked to was very nice. This is our third time ordering from this caterer so I’m not worried about the food.
Birthday cake – ordered. We’re going with a cutout Hello Kitty cake in chocolate with buttercream filling.
Loot bags – I opted for a typical plastic treat bag. No time to do handmade treat bags so I settled for the store bought ones. I also got the items for the loot bags too.
Guestbook – layouts done, I just have to print the pages and assemble the album. This year I’ll be using Maya Road Accordion album for the guestbook.
I want a new pair (or two) of the slinky sandals pictured above. These are no Naot shoesbut I like them a lot. I bought 2 pairs of flats this month so I’ll probably wait til next month or Christmas but it’s on my wish list. Ohhh the little girl needs new pairs of sandals as well to match her new dresses and tops. She’s going to outgrow her current pairs so new ones are in order. She needs a new pair of sneakers as well, her pink Addidas no longer fit her. She hardly wear them and now it doesn’t fit anymore. A girl needs at least one pair of sneakers even if she rarely wears them.
I plan to go to the mall tomorrow with the little girl. I’m craving for doughnuts so we’re going to pickup a dozen glazed doughnuts before we go home. The little girl likes doughnuts too so it won’t be all for me. I know this means lots of excess calories again and probably I need diet pills by now (lol) but what the heck I’m going to get me my doughnuts. Maybe I could take the hubby and the little princess to Tampines this weekend so we could go to that doughnut place there. This way I can still get my fix but I’ll settle for one or two pieces at most (because hubby is with me). Hmmm now that’s an idea….
